Lancashire is a modern, dynamic business centre which attracts an increasingly diverse range of businesses. With a £20 billion economy, it is one of the largest sub-regions in Britain. Lancashire has been the engineering and manufacturing powerhouse of the UK for 200 years.
Digital and Creative Industries

Health and Social Care
Over the decade to 2007 employee numbers in health and social work in the broader Lancashire area grew by 10,400 (+14.5%); however there was some contraction over the last two years.
Leisure & Tourism
The Leisure in Tourism Industry in the UK is an exciting and prosperous sector that continues to go through expansive change. Valued in excess of £106b, the Lancashire region is a main contributor attracting over 2 million tourists per year with overseas tourism attracting an additional £15bn.

The environment and sustainability industries play a hugely important role in the national and regional economy. The importance of the land resource and how it is managed has never been greater in terms of sustainable development.
